The taxes in Montana for cannabis are broken up between recreational and medical cannabis. There is a 20% tax in Montana for recreational cannabis. Missoula county voted for an additional 3% tax on adult-use cannabis so the Missoula Montana rec cannabis tax will be 23% per sale.

Medical cannabis is taxed at a rate of 4% if you are a Montana resident with a current MMJ card. Most counties have voted to add 3% to medical tax rate as well, but Missoula is one of the few counties where the medical tax rate remains 4%.
